Skateboarding Rules for B/X

I've been getting into skateboarding again recently, I used to do it a lot as a kid but then I moved to where the closest sidewalk was a mile away in town. Anyways here are some rules for movement on skateboards. Characters All classes gain a new save, save vs wipeout. This is used to avoid the consequences of board based acrobatics and other tricky maneuvers. Dexterity provides a bonus to wipeout saves as Wisdom provides saves vs magical effects. Level Cleric Fighter Magic User Thief Dwarf* Elf Hobbit 1 13 13 14 12 12 13 12 2 13 13 14 12 12 13 12 3 13 13 14 12 12 13 12 4 13 11 14 12 10 11 10 5 11 11 14 9 10 11 10 6 11 11 12 9 10 11 10 7 11 9 12 9 8 9 8 8 11 9 12 9 8 9 8 9 9 9 12 6 8 9 10 9 7 12 6 6 7 11 9 7 10 6 6 12 9 7 10 6 13 7 5 10 3 14 7 5 10 3 *dwarves gain a +2 bonus to avoid wiping out on downhills due to their moun...

Nithhugyr

Back when man ate the planet the nithhugry was made. On command they would hollow out entire mountainsides, now only a few are left, roaming the places few dare to tread. They appear in swarms of 3d100, combined into a singular worm. Each segment is 15’ long and 10’ wide Nithhugyr: HD 2+12 per Segment, Atk 1 Bite (1d12+6) per 5 Segments, AC as Chain + Shield, MV 60' or 40' Burrow, ML 11. Swallow: If a bite attack beats succeeds by 10 or more, the target must save vs Wands or be swallowed whole. If swallowed whole the victim travels down the body at a rate of 1 segment per round, suffering 1d6 damage per segment. If not swallowed whole the victim is hanging on for dear life in the mouth and must make Strength check each round to hold on. Succeeding by 2+ allows for escape, failing by 2+ means swallowing. Break Apart: If a segment is destroyed the swarm becomes two independent worms., Heat Vent: Has a 1-in-12 chance each round to release jets of searing hot air, scalding ...

Mask 01: Mask of the Iron Warriors

Hello, welcome to a strange thing I am attempting to start. The great magic mask relay. It begins with one person describing a magical mask, it can be for any length and for any setting they wish, it can even have mechanical implications if the writer desires.  Once they have written this, they are going to tag (be polite, ask them if they are fine being tagged in) another person to write a magic mask and this chain continues until 100 masks have been described. They make sure to link to the blogpost you were tagged in and then once the person after you had made their post link to theirs. The blog posts should be formatted as Mask #: Mask Name. That’s pretty much all the rules, make sure the person you tag reads the rules.  EDIT: 11/17/2025. You have probably been linked here by a blog that doesn't follow the rules above, bully them in the comments about it. Mask of the Iron Warrior Back when iron was first forged the warlords of old, conquers of valleys and mountai...

The Hyrule Grand Campaign: Hyrule

Image
I'm slowly working on creating my own legend of zelda themed hex crawl, and I do mean slowly this map was first created september 2022. The basic gist is that it takes place during the Hyrulean Civil War in a "Shot and Sorcery" setting. Matchlock firearms exist Black powder was not invented, instead blue powder (dried and gentle pulverized bombflowers) Kingdoms with fertile land farm bombflowers to fuel their plans of domination. Monsters stalk the hinterlands, making population centers outside of the control of the kingdoms incredibly rare. Ancient technology and malice dot the landscape, if any one kingdom was able to harness these powers they might be able to upset the delicate balance. You can download the keys and character creation rules here This will slowly be updated with more and more stuff as time goes on. This map and project predates the goat reveal of the zonai so idk if I am gonna stick with human zonai or not.

Armor of the Bay

Warriors need to have their innards protected. The best way to do that is to wear armor. Here are the common armors in the Birini region. Cotton Unprocessed cotton between fabric, creating a very soft armor that dampens impacts and is hard to pierce. BX 6[13], 50 GP, 100cn DCC +3, -1, –,d6,50 GP Lamellar, Porcelain Pieces of Thrion ceramic overlapping each other creating a hard yet flexible set of armor. BX 4[15], 50 GP, 440cn DCC +4, -3, -5’, d12, 50 GP Leather Hardened animal hide (typically cow but occasionally mammoth) a cheap and solid way to protect the innards. BX: 7[12], 20 GP, 200cn DCC +2, -1,–, d8, 20GP Plate Solid bronze, typically they are made somewhat decoratively, showing gleaming metal abs, cod pieces, other features the warrior wishes to accentuate.  BX 2[17], 500GP, 500cn DCC +7, -7, -10’,1d12, 500GP Scale Small bronze plates overlapping like the protective scales of a serpent...

Partial Armor For Old School Essentials Version 2

Image
In September 2022 I tried making a partial armor system for Old School essentials based on the system in The Orcs of Thar book but simplified. Looking back on that while I like the idea I am not sure if using red orcs of thar for the base was the best idea because it had some janky math that I had to massage into place and by the time I had something presentable I had become so used to janky that I didn't realize it was still kind of sub par. Here is my redux.   A pdf download can be found here.

Staying Classy in the Stone Age 1

Last September my long time friend Ciara mentioned the idea of running a stone age fantasy game, and in a discord server I am in, someone started a thread about paleolithic hex crawling so I decided to revisit this idea. Classes such as the fighter need no real adaptations, all that is needed is a change of equipment list and you have someone who is capable of fighting. A magic users would be only slightly more difficult, eschewing the spellbook for various artifacts of power but again very reasonable. After that there is the thief, most skills are broadly applicable such as a backstabing or a climbing sheer surface even in the stone age, however picking locks and reading languages are not skills someone needs at that time.  There is also the cleric and despite interfacing with divinity being a very important part of the game the cleric as presented is more focused on presenting a very medieval christian understanding of what interfacing with the divine means. A majo...

A NEWER BETTER VERSION CAN BE FOUND HERE Link to PDF Here Amendment: When a piece of armor is magical that piece grants +16 Armor Points per standard unitary armor bonus. For example, if a plate helmet is from a +1 magical armor set it would have 96 Armor Points, 16 more than a nonmagical helmet.

Yet Another Attempt at Making BX Fighters Less Boring

Image
Or YAAAMBXFLB for short it my method of making fighters for anything BX derived more interesting mechanically.  I lied this isn't actually about making fighters less boring. The trick to fixing fighters is to not give a shit about Making BX Fighters Less Boring but instead differentiating weapons more beyond mere damage dice. Here is an expanded quality list for BX weapons. PDF Version This blogpost was inspired by the wonderful 5e D&D third party product Beyond Damage Dice by James Haeck, Wolfgang Baur, and Scott Gable.

Gorons and Zoras for Old School Essentials

Image
I really enjoy the legend of zelda series and the creatures found there. You rarely see any takes on Gorons or Zora so I decided to make my own set of OSE classes for them. (As well as races for people who use the advanced fantasy rules) If you want a PDF of this check here
