Special: Falcons count as HD 4 for the determination of Breath Weapons/Explosives saves.
While traveling with a falcon, random encounters of overland monsters are altered as follows.
Encounter Distance: 4d6 x 20 yards. Or 1d4 x 20 yards if either side is surprised.
Surprise: The adventures roll 1d6. On a result of a 1 the party is surprised, on the result of a 2 the party is not surprised but does not know what they are encountering.
While traveling with a falcon, the chance of finding a suitable hunt is increased to 2-in-6.
I have been wanting my own version of The Caverns of Thracia to hold in my hands. There is technically the OAR version released by goodman games but it has a few problems. The first problem is that the book is mostly not The Caverns of Thracia, to read through the original version of the text you need to skip past a bunch of essays about how cool the dungeon is (including one by fucking Mike Merles), and then ignore the back half of the book that is all the conversion to either 5e or DCC. My second problem is that it’s a massive hardcover book that is not super portable, and is too expensive for me to be buying right now. The final albeit more minor complaint is that goodman release has a black and white color. So I am gonna walk you through what I am gonna do to make my own version of the Caverns of Thracia that fixes all those problems. Hello, welcome to a strange thing I am attempting to start. The great magic mask relay. It begins with one person describing a magical mask, it can be for any length and for any setting they wish, it can even have mechanical implications if the writer desires. Once they have written this, they are going to tag (be polite, ask them if they are fine being tagged in) another person to write a magic mask and this chain continues until 100 masks have been described. They make sure to link to the blogpost you were tagged in and then once the person after you had made their post link to theirs. The blog posts should be formatted as Mask #: Mask Name. just something I have been stewing on for a bit I do not value a consistent and replicable experience the most. I do not. Every few years or so the british internet will suddenly remember ISO 3103 and get miffed “Oh this isn’t the best way to make tea” and yeah they are right, but the point isn’t that it’s good it’s that it is replicable.
