And Blood Stained the Courtyard
So a mild retcon from last session because I realized I didn’t want to run a game with over a hundred combatants at once lol. None of my players noticed, two weeks will do this.
A standoff smouldered under the sunlight of the witching hour. Runners fueled a roaring bonfire as ten armed culists stood behind it, a dozen guards with shields and glaives guarded the temple entrance itself. The wall of shields and glaives would be hard to piece with their superior reach.
Using the pilfered red robes Caulder slipped into the crowd of runners going to and forth and found himself amongst the robed figures. Amyl climbed to the top of a roof of a potters shop that overlooked the courtyard in front of the temple.
With the stand off staying fast the barons struck, Amyl let loose and arrow, killing a runner bringing fuel to the fire, Mekinimini, Dash, and Roddy charged the crowd of cultists from behind. In an instant four lay dead in the street, staining the cobblestone.
Caulder yelled retreat, the fellow cultists were more than happy to abide. One ran towards the direction the runners were in, before being picked off once more by Amyl, the others seeing the direction of death ran from the potters building, sandwiched between a canal and the inferno.
The guards came down like a hammer, with a charge of their glaives they impaled two others.
Drash and Caulder pressed harder, throwing one into the inferno and bashing in the ribs of another one.
Roddy had had enough of bravery and ran around the corner to the street they entered in from.
All morale broke, the remaining cultists tried to jump to the canal to escape, Caulder managed to hold back an injured one, pinning him to the ground.
“Who are you?” Caulder demanded
“I am a disciple of YGSĐĐ”
“Knew him personally did you?” Amyl sneered
“You may have defeated us here, but this is just a fraction we number tenfold, twentyfold”
“Can’t go back on a number like that tell us the truth”
A sneer crossed over the cultist’s face, he wasn’t to speak anymore.
Amyl handed the battered man to the temple guards “Take him to the question, and do it right”
